Cakewalk UM2G

I'm just about to dip my toe in the MIDI world.  I'm about to buy a Cakewalk UM2G Midi/USB interface.  I figure with a couple of things that I have sitting around (a Casio CTK-601 keyboard and a Roland PMA-5 - box full of midi sounds) then I can expand the choice of instruments into my MBR recordings.  The idea is that the keyboard drives the sounds, the sounds come either the Roland PMA-5 or Garageband on my MacBook and that they record via the audio line out into the MBR.   I think it's time to get beyond drum/bass/guitar (I don't sing, or rather my singing is too crap to record) and start using the MBR for bigger arrangements.

This is new territory for me and I think that I have it worked out but if anyone has any suggestions/comments/warnings, then I would be most grateful. I admit to being nervous but slightly excited. I've always been wary of instruments that I don't really play but what the hell if there's fun to be had.
