The documentation is here:  http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/

It includes links to several tutorials.

All hail the great Audacity!

I recently lost some song data from my hard drive. I found a backup on a DVD I'd burned a long time ago.  But it was a WAV file and it was corrupted. Nothing would open it.  I couldn't even copy it off the DVD onto my computer--in Mac mode or in XP mode.

Until I tried Audacity  (for Mac)!  Audacity opened it, and hung at about 60%--just as every other method I tried.  Then Audacity, with look of fierce determination in its eyes, grunted and opened the rest of the file.  I quickly exported the file to my hard drive and was able to rip it and restore the lost songs (in XP).

I know 64g's already answered part of this and mastering for mp3 can be a bit different than cd quality, but i found this article interesting. it deals specifically with audacity

I especially liked the instructions for creating a ring tone - I'll never pay for one, but I just might record my own.

(Damn I need a loop pedal bad!).

Have a listen to Edition 4 of the Boss Tones podcasts, osckilo.  It's a 4 part interview with Philip Stendek who specialises in looping.

Osckilo ... you asked about loop stations and I just remembered this.  Have a listen to hayley mucking about with hers (and her brand new and stunning maton guitar) ...
