New recording is on the second page.  I'm trying to convince John into playing it at our gig this weekend.

-----------------------

Not to diminish the tune we created (I dig it), but I couldn't resist adding some banter to the beginning of this track. Sorry if it offends anybody, but John and I have some pretty left-of-center conversations. Perhaps it will bring us all a little closer together, but my money is on driving us apart. We were obviously having an amusing time. I also never knew I laughed like Muttley.

On a musical note, the main riff is a bit of a chore to continue to do throughout the song. You will hear some cheating going on as it progresses. The tune has morphed a bit, but my fingers were cooked for the day. It now has the pretentious ending where the lyric "extinct" occurs along with the unresolved chord in the outro (for Hook and Hilary). Hopefully, John will post the lyrics.

Micro BR internal microphone on the table between us, so there is no hope of a remix.

I've included the version that we would have posted had Blooby been able to complete the song one more time.  We were approaching forty takes, so I can't fault him.  There was not enough scotch in the building to soothe his aching fingers.

The song as posted is the only complete version.  It's a mess, but we got through.  Blooby didn't include what we said at the end of the take.  Perhaps it's best that way.

Extinct  by Johnson and Young
All my life I've sought the answers
To the questions of humankind
Never finding always seeking
Delving deep into my mind

Of all the quandaries I've encountered
One eludes my comprehension
Why some feel that we must take
And kill each other's piece of world

Most just want to live a life
Left alone in a land unspoiled
Food and a home and restful nights
Honest work but free of toil

Disenchanted unempowered
Why care why try anyhow
Sell us rhetoric feed us blather
It's all about the money now

Tell us what we want ask us our consent
Then turn around and leave the stage
Into the place where your lords await
Leaving us to face our rage

Everywhere the Earth is changing
Either we adapt or die
Powers that set our rate of survival
Are most apt to deny and lie

If we would look beyond a lifetime
We could save our children's fate
Must they live to be cannon fodder
While the one luxuriate

What will we leave of this Earth we've pillaged
Now's the time to stop and think
Roaches will feed from another species
Dodos             we                  extinct

I can hear how much you guys like/tolerate one another, lol! I can also hear how difficult the guitar part is to play. No wonder your fingers were shot after several takes Blooby. Great lyric and vocal Lurker. Well done gents!
