Here's one that is sort of in between analog and digital...actually it's a combination. It was recorded live as stereo on a minidisc. The song is Sultans of Swing live at an outdoor park in 2005. This is The JMZ Band that I played in for 35 years before retiring from gigging.

We set up two SM57's (connected to a Boss analog mixer, connected to a minidisc recorder) set about 2 feet out directly in front of the Main JBL P.A Speakers. Since we had everything on the stage mic'ed up into the main board and each SM57 was set left and right at the Boss mixer we got a decent sound with some natural ambient stereo separation from the stage amps and drums. The reverb from the mains even had good sound. I'm reminded how good real drums sound.
