Been out of town for three of the last four weekends. Before things got busy, I got together with Colin, a keyboardist friend, in an effort to exploit the Arranger function of the new Studio One update. We basically jammed over a static beat until we stumbled on something cool. We then cut and pasted the snippets we came up with. Nothing was re-recorded...just mangled, copied, and rearranged. John (Lurker) then came in with some lyrics I ended up really liking quite a bit. He captured a moment to which we can all relate. Unfortunately, there was a part of the song that repeated too many times. When one of those vanished, it made sense to lose a verse or two. Apologies, John. I know I lost a couple great lines, but I thought the more succinct version worked better.

Not really sure what we've got here. A couple unexpected chords, some wacky effects here and there...kinda poppy...definitely different for me.

Let's Take a Drive

We were sitting in a café
On an early summer's eve
Listening to the leaves
As they rustled in the breeze

The sound of distant thunder
Came rolling down the street
We watched the far off flashes
Silhouetting everything

She leaned over close
It felt good to have her near
She put her hand on my knee
As she spoke into my ear

Let's take a drive tonight
Somewhere out of town
Let's open up the roof
And put the windows down

I don't care where we go
As long as we go fast
I want to feel this night blow by
And watch the world go past.

Didn't matter our direction
We were in it for the ride
Morning was our destination
It was all about the time

We never felt a raindrop
The clouds were moving on
It was starlight and moonlight
That led us to the dawn

Let's take a drive tonight
Somewhere out of town
Let's open up the roof
And put the windows down

I don't care where we go
As long as we go fast
I want to feel this night blow by
And watch the world go past.

I`ve listened twice now on cans. Really love the vibe on this. It`s like The Doors meets the Allman`s but more MoO. Really great guitar and the vocals are amazing. The keys add a touch it needs. How you cut and paste this??? I don`t even know how to begin to do that. You have great patience.

Really really excellent song guys!!!

This is dead cool.  You really should have told us that you spent weeks developing and arranging the song.  I would have been equally impressed - but I'm impressed anyway!

Nice chord movement and great guitar.  Vocals are brill as are the keys.  Addictive drums?

A very nostalgic vibe here that takes me back to a bit of psychedelia......well done dudes! I'm impressed this was some jamming clips that were pulled together into a song. I think the vocal was the final stitch that finished it off properly. I like it!

I'm loving those curveball chord changes.

Really nice song.  I was getting a little Observatory Crest, maybe.

Love that effect on the guitar at the end too.
