Fingernails

Pal of mine- he was a pro guitarist in a big band-he used clear nail varnish.
not being a finger picker dont know really-

Use fingers,no nails,simple.been doing it for years.the skin adds tone and feel.
Go for it.

I keep my fingernails pretty short, in fact I often am biting them down on the way to a gig. I use a pick to strum guitar but never use one on the uke.
