Steve Kimock is an incredibly lyrical guitar player who keeps the majority of his chops held in reserve.  If you don't know about him and his predominantly instrumental solo music, I urge you to check him out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Kimock).  His music tends to ebb and flow rather than hit you over the head.
