That's a kinda sad interview. The problem is, and this is true certainly in the UK, that people have become very soporific - they and happy to sit at home, watch TV and drink beer. And then it comes down to the lowest common denominator ie big brother (which I cannot stand) or big sports events. People seem to drift through life, going out appears to be just about getting 'mullered', and our hero's are people who are famous for nothing. Music appears to flourish during times of hardship because people feel more alive, perhaps we are too comfortable. But I don't know what the answer is.
