Hi!

This is my last project recorded in Samplitude Music Studio 2013.  I'm tired of the unreliability of it.  >:( I just purchased Cakewalk Sonar X3 Studio and am learning it.  Since it's essentially a Roland/Boss product, I feel as if I have more of a kinship with you folks who post on this forum using the Micro BR.  Though not the same product, it comes from pretty much the same manufacturer.

Anyway.  This song is an original.  It was recorded for the most part in SMS 2013 but the Garritan horns from JABB3 and the NI Session Strings had to be sequenced into Mixcraft 5 because SMS mysteriously forgot how to record MIDI halfway through the project. It also uses Toontrack EZ Drummer.  Hope you'll like it.  It's called "If You're Not The One".

If you're not the one
who I've been dreaming about so long
Please don't waste my time
and my emotions
If I'll never know
the beauty of all the secrets you'll share
Why expose me to the potential of heartbreak

You'll pull me in with your charm and grace
but what will I do if you leave me flat on my face
I'd rather stop before I'm stranded
So please, Madam

If you're not the one
I'd just as soon never enter your dreams
Just to be tossed aside
when your Price Charming arrives
Rather not face the pain
of falling for just a tentative love
Been burned too many times
and left with resentment

Your eyes cut deeply
Into my captive heart
And there's so much desire
I felt it right from the start
I'd better run before I
fall to deeply for you

If you're not the one
If there's a shadow of doubt in you mind
Then you must be so kind
As to release me
Never want to realize
Another loss of a one-sided dream
Won't let myself be used
As just a convenience
So tell me quickly
Is your heart so true?
Or will you someday drop me
for a love anew?
Now is the time for me to
Leave here if you're not the one

You've done fantastic job here, John! Every minute was worth of listening! Liked the laid back melody and the piano sounds so good as alaways in your recordings. The flute (or is it horn?) solo is great here!

Very good work on arrangement, too! There's so many nice additions! Wow!

Thank you for the listen, Tony!  I appreciate the comparison to Donald Fagen.  He's always been a fav of mine.
