Are modern tv program's on tv better than old tv?

On another thread about favourite tv program's,I was wondering ,apart from being visually better with HD etc are the new program's better than the old?

TV is a passing phase. The colours are much better on the wireless.

The babble box just gets worse and worse.
Especially since all the low budget reality shows came about.
Or the non stop news like CNN babbling away nonstop about nothing.

1000 high def channels beaming at you and nothing on.
