It's time to vote for our next two festivals which will run from May 1 to June 30. Voting starts now and runs for 5 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on April 30th. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.

This poll is for the "Theme/Genre" festival. There is a separate poll for the "Artists/Covers" festival here:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=20953.0

Please vote in both polls.

As always, we encourage you to write an original song for the Theme/Genre festival, but covers are welcome too.

Songs with words that don't rhyme - Pretty obvious. Write an original song where the words don't rhyme. Or do a cover of a song where the words don't rhyme, if you can find one (there probably aren't many).

Sure. Drones can even be chords rather than single notes. I believe most bagpipes have three drone pipes. One is tuned 2 octaves below the tonic of the chanter (melody pipe), another is 1 octave below, and the third plays the fifth (rock guitarists know this combination as the "power chord").

Great idea. Drone concrète! Record a natural sound such as a buzzing bee or housefly and loop it to produce a continuous drone for the duration of your song. You could even drop the pitch an octave or two in Audacity or some other audio software.
