This looks interesting. Ohm Studio is a new DAW that's designed for real-time collaboration. Instead of storing tracks on your hard drive, it stores them on a server. Other people who are collaborating with you on the project will see and hear the same tracks in their own copy of the program in perfect sync, and they can add their own tracks which everyone participating in the project will automatically see and hear. No importing/exporting of WAV files required since the tracks are stored on the server and immediately available to everyone in the recording project. You can also create private tracks so you can work on a track and not let the others hear it until you're happy with it. And it has a built-in chat feature so you can discuss the project in real-time with your collaborators.

There's a free version of Ohm Studio available for Windows and Mac. And you can get free hosting on the server for up to 10 projects at a time. If you want more projects and/or more DAW features, you have to pay. See the pricing details on the Ohm Studio website.

I imagine that other DAW makers will be adding collaborative features like these to their products in the future. I just hope they can all agree on some sort of standard so that people can collaborate with different DAWs. It would be a real shame if the only way to collaborate on a song project was for everyone to use exactly the same DAW. That would never be accepted. People need to be able to use the DAW of their choice. But it looks like Ohm Studio is the only one with these collaborative features, so it will have to do for now.
