BR-80...how to rehearse vocals WITHOUT recording them?

Hi,
Just discovered this forum, looks like a good reference to have. I just moved, and my actual studio equipment is in storage, so I got a BR-80 to use as a sketch book for writing lyrics and melodies to tracks sent to me for cues for a TV show. I got the backing tracks into the BR-80, and have recorded the vocals for one song already, in MTR mode, using the built in mics.

It sounds fine for my purposes at the moment, but the only way I've found to be able to rehearse is to hit *RECORD* so I can hear what I'm doing . Is there a way to just have the tracks playing, and me singing, and NOT be recording it every time?

Thanks in advance,
Michael Lee

oh, and I did a search already but couldn't find the answer, sorry if the answer is out there somewhere and I missed it

There is a way around it. What you do is to press record and play, and then just press the record button once more. You will then turn off recording, but will still monitor the mics.
