These new jukeboxes are great and its really nice to hear my songs in the context of all the other great songs posted here.

What it has brought home to me though is how crappy the mix was on some of those earlier songs.  I'd like to do a better mix and replace - is that allowable?  Not re-record anything, just a better mix.  This is because participating on this site and sharing my songs has taught me a lot. I can tell the difference between my older stuff and recent ones.

I'm already thinking twice about what I put in, but I'm presuming that once a song is posted to the jukebox it has to stay there.  Otherwise people will be routinely changing their songs, I guess.

No, we want the samplers to contain a sampling of what our members recorded and posted in a given year. We don't think a 2013 remix should be in a 2010 jukebox, for example. You could re-record the song and submit it next year for the 2013 sampler, if you like. But you'd have to re-record all the tracks because, otherwise, it would just be a 2013 remix of 2010 (or whatever) tracks. I think everything (performing, recording, mixing, and posting) should be done in the year of the sampler jukebox. The only thing that doesn't have to be done in the same year is the songwriting. You can use songs you wrote earlier as long as everything else was done in the year of the sampler jukebox.

As long as people aren't too fickle, I don't mind changing a few songs. But only till the end of the year. Come January 1, 2014, all of the jukeboxes up to and including 2012 will be frozen as they are. No changes will be made and no new submissions will be allowed. We'll start thinking about the 2013 sampler instead.

Nice to have this particular Songcrafters playlist evolving.  Gonna make it a lot easier to set up a special Songcrafters folder on my mp3 player.  Gotta jump in now...

the rest is basically covers, so it is fun but not worthy.

I really suggest there should be a final mix on all songs, at least to normalize the volume.

That's gotta be a pain in the neck - otherwise just make a procedure so we can normalize ourselves, e.g.

1. open wav in audacity
2. normalize -5db (?!?!)
3. equalize preset C3PO (?!?!)
4. save as wav 44.100 whatsoever
