Hey guys, sorry about clogging up the boards with these video questions! When I pull a video off my iphone it's a .MOV which windows media doesn't recognize so I use "Lucky Video Converter" to change the file format. On the last one I did I converted it to .wmv, but it looks way more grainy and darker than it did on the phone. I chose that format because it seemed to make sense for use in windows movie maker. Should I be picking a different format that will keep better quality or is it just going to look like shit after the conversion?
As always your opinions are greatly appreciated. Hope all is well with you all!
Rock on!

Hey I can actually answer this one (I'm shocked) - I converted my .MOV file to .AVI file for Windows Movie Maker and it works fine and the quality isn't altered.

Ok, the .avi file is accepted by windows movie maker but the icon is a green screen. When I play it it's fine but when I drag into the timeline I only get audio & no video. I tried the ImToo converter 64 recommended in Haylies converter post -same result. I also tried converting to mpeg 1 & mpeg 2 and Movie Maker wanted to take it but then shuts down completely. I'm very confused...any ideas?

According to the following page, the current version of Windows Live Movie Maker can import .MOV files directly.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker-file-types-faq

Maybe you just need to update to the latest version. Download it here:

Or maybe you're missing the CODEC for quicktime (.MOV) files?

This page shows how to import a .MOV into Windows Live Movie Maker.

And here are a couple more video converters you could try.
