Poor old Reg can't get to sleep the bloody neighbour's are keeping him awake again...............
I lie in bed its almost midnight
i can hear the voices through the walls
i can listen to there lives going on
i 'm going lie here and hear it all

tick tock goes the big brass clock
that sits on the dresser by the wall
tick tick tock their life goes wrong
through the wall its all going on
like a soap opera all night long
their unhappy lifes echo through the wall  s
everyone, everyone  is invited to the ball

Its getting to close 1pm and the arguments start again
where have you been
what did you do
why did you follow Janis to the loo
why were gone so so long
you never make me feel like i belong

through the wall its all going on
like a soap opera all night long
their unhappy lifes echo through the wall
every one is invited to the ball

Its now a quarter to 2
i hear, i've had enough i cant stand you
not another day looking and listening to you
you accuse me all the time i may as well have took Janis for the ride
well why don't you leave and shut the door if you don't love me no more

through the wall its all going on
like a soap opera all night long
their unhappy lifes echo through the wall
every one is invited to the ball

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie

Damn cool. I like that reggaed-up, stuttering keyboard thing going on, and the ethereal echoes. Makes it edgy like frayed nerves. Excellent lyrics too.

I felt that!

This joins a short list of great songs I know of that are inspired by the composer having overheard their neighbors.

Could we do a Noisy Neighbors Fest? Or an Overheard Dialog Fest? Or would that carry the risk of encouraging us into being snoopy neighbors, eavesdropping on our the people next door, or at the next table?

The tone is delightfully creepy. I was expecting someone to die, but they just stay together and keep arguing. I guess if one of them murdered the other, the arguing would stop. Having to lie there and listen over and over is worse. This is indeed a kind of hell.
