An interesting concept, I'm going to try my next track in 432Hz to see how it sounds.

Does anyone else use the 432Hz tuning?

Spooky.....432 (as opposed to 440) is apparently more in tune with the resonances of the earth and nature and all that hippy-shit. Never tried it meself. HA HA!!

Concert pitch or not? Vexed issue.

Simply shifting the pitch has less of an effect than changing the key, the key change affects the mood of the music. Try A major vs A flat major, or B flat major. Semitone difference, world of difference.

I like A flat.

Also, the resonances of instruments change with the key. Cellos sound strangled in E, just because they don't ring where guitars ring beautifully.

Pianos, now there's an interesting sonic subject......

If your talking about tuning down by "1/2 a step" ,I do this all the time.
Fattens your tone up and your strings are a bit looser for those big bends, vibrato, etc,
They say Jimi and SRV did it,...but what would they know .  ;)

Most bands do including mine, in fact evrything I do is now flat/sharp or 1/2 step down, much easier to sing to as well, for me at any rate. Guitar sound better too, a little darker perhaps?

So how exactly does one tune their guitar to get in this tuning?

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places
