Another for DIYFEST. I wrote this & recorded this today in my car on with the ps-02 into the 004 (except the bass done tonight at home on br) and mixed & mastered on the br. It's about how hard it is for the parent/child relationship when roles change.
1 phaser uke
1 clean uke
1 chorus uke lead
1 distortion uke solo
1 bass
1 minty coin drums
1 vocal

Aloneness
written & performed by Hook

Rogue baritone uke, Peavy bass, icebreaker mints
You seem to be lifelessly
Waiting for the end
Somewhere along the way
You decided not to have any friends
Now I wonder, how's that working out for you?

You seem to be regretfully
Moving day by day
As if each step were punishment
Ignoring any other way
Now I wonder, how's that working out for you?

I don't think you're supposed to be so sad
You've got to find a way to see some good
Instead of just all the bad

You seem to be closing up
Pushing me aside
Refuse to talk, deny the truth
But no one believes your lies
Now I wonder, how's that working out for you?

I don't think you're supposed to be alone
I'm pretty sure I'm the one
              You're supposed to lean on

Don't you worry I got your back
Give me your burden so you can relax
Let me carry your extra weight
We can turn this around, it's not too late
Try to believe you're not alone
This is not something you can do on your own
Know I'm here you can count on me
When times are hard you your need family

You seem to be lifelessly
Waiting for the end
Somewhere along the way
You decided not to have any friends
Now I wonder, how's that working out for you?

Bravo Hook, lovely and sad lyrics! You have a real talent my friend, a real way with words.
Really liked the phaser on the UKE - thought that really worked, and the distorted UKE solo was very nice indeed. Great start to the day :)

I'm amazed by the full soundscape you manage to get using only a uke and bass !!!

And you really are a great songwriter. This is yet another gem.

It pours out of you like a wellspring, crystal clear and effervescent, and very refreshing....even though the subject matter is a little deep, it still bubbles up into the light of day.  Singer/songwriter masterclass here.  Distortion uke........damn man you are just too cool, wicked sound on that uke lead.

Thank you guys, your comments are incredibly kind and very humbling. This tune really just flowed out of me quite quickly. I had the first line and wrote most of the music (sans bass) around that line and it's emotions. I had no idea as I was writing what or how I'd sing over the chorus but it came together and I'm really pleased with the bridge/solo section. Thanks again for listening and the amazing comments!
Rock on!
