From the stories I've been told there wasn't a nicer guy in the music business. Watching youtube music clips and interviews with him really brings home what a loss his passing is.

I am in the middle of the annual Wanee Festival (saw him here a year ago), and news rippled around pretty quickly.  Very sad.

This one is very, very sad. A true legend and a personal hero of mine. People will be listening to his music forever though.

Lurker

Levon Helm is one of my heroes.  I followed him not only for his musicianship, but for his work in film.  He kept my attention whenever he was on screen.  I loved to hear him sing and play drums, mandolin, whatever he wanted.  He's one of those superstars with whom I feel like I could have had a genuine down-to-earth conversation.  Now I'll never have the chance.

Godspeed Levon.  May you be in peace.
