Just listening to a little Sly Stone.  It's hard to believe that this is 38 years old.  If they made it tomorrow it wouldn't sound old.  Family Affair.

Shame it didn't have a good clip.

You folk like blues guitar, yes, no?  Well it seems to be one of those backwards looking nights and I've just been getting lost with the master.  In what universe was this man not a god?  T-Bone Walker. I haven't a clip of him with this quality before.

OK, one more on the blues guitar theme before I retire as tonight's DJ.  Without a doubt, in my mind at least, the greatest blues guitarist ever, Wayne Bennett (but don't tell him that, he didn't like to be thought of in such a restrictive fashion), with Mel Brown at the other side of the stage.  Mel Brown had five albums as leader before he was playing second fiddle to Wayne Bennett in gigs like this.  Ah, riches, we throw them away like used tissues. Wayne Bennett and Mel Brown on the same stage, that's like (for those of you that like the other type of blues guitar) Hendrix and Clapton in the same band.  I'm going to my bed.  There's only so much in a bottle of Tullamore Dew.

This has grown on me.  I don't think I've seen the video before.

At about 3:58, Lydon looks like a kid looking in the mirror practicing his crazy face. At first his face is relaxed, and then he opens his eyes wide as though he missed his cue to look maniacal.

I still wonder what lead to Steve Vai, Jonas Hellborg, Ginger Baker, and Tony Williams to play on this album. Not that I didn't like it.  I just, you know, wonder.

I was listening to bass phenom Oteil Burbridge's "No More Doubt." This song pretty much encapsulates what I like about music: great musicianship, great song, great dynamics, great singer, and a great jam.  I know it gets a little nutty in the outro, but I love how the cacophany abruptly ceases with that little five-note ending.

You may want to crack a beer while listening to this one.

If you dig this, the entire show is available free (and legal) for download here.
