The new 10 minute Bowie song 'Blackstar'. I think it's mindblowing incredible.

Really reminds of Scott Walker - which is partly why I like it I guess.

took me a couple of goes to listen and watch all the way through. but having now watched the video in it's entirety i love it, best thing Bowie has done in ages. the sax reminds me of Van Der Graaf Generator and towards the ends i can hear the influence of the residents.

prompted by nick's post, i looked out some bauhaus, i have lost count of the amount of times i saw them live, my friend wrote a fanzine, so we got on the guest-list to a lot of gigs and got to meet the band many times.

i was a total fan in the early days, but in the end i became disillusioned with them. david jay the bass guitarist was one of the nicest guys i ever met and totally for the music, but the others just seemed to have dollar signs in their eyes and did what ever the record company asked.

anyway to the guid aild days.

My son bought me an album by Disturbed.  I hadn't heard much by them before  - and had thought that they might be a bit too metal even for a sad old rocker like me.  They are indeed seriously metal but pretty damn good with it, but this version of Sound of Silence I found to be really stunning.

The start reminded me a bit of Crash test dummies. In a good way I must add.

Surfing and stumbled across this.   One of my fave Tull songs - although many people berated "A" personally I really liked it.  This song and Fylingdale Flyer are desert island discs for me.
