Mark King doing 1 minute 12 seconds of slap bass. Not sure why, lol. Perhaps I'm a secret slap bass fan.

After visiting Ronnie Scott's Jazz club in London on Wednesday and seeing Bill Evans and Robben Ford live I have suddenly fallen in love with their style of music.
Whilst at the club I purchased Bill Evans's most recent album "Soulgrass". It's brilliant, but not for pure jazz fans, as it is a stange (but wonderful) mix of soul, jazz and bluegrass.

Ted

I saw Junior Brown live in Austin, TX one week ago tonight, and bought a CD.

It's opened a window into a whole world of awesome.

This song, if you pay attention, pays subtle homages to Jimi Hendrix (and even more so the version I have on CD.)

Quote from: Gritter on July 05, 2010, 05:51:57 PMI saw this group last night at th Jazz Festival in Vancouver. They are from Vancouver but it was the first time I'd heard them. They are super cool and put on a great show for free.

Very cool indeed and an excellent video. Great band, thanks for the heads up.

Cheers,

Nigel

Quote from: IanR on July 06, 2010, 01:30:23 AMI think you will like the The Little Stevies.  They sound like an aussie version of the Sundays.

Gosh, they do indeed, I used to love the Sundays. This is great, but I'm glad you explained "dinking" as it does sound rather rude.......

Cheers,

Nigel

Hmmmm, I'm with the Mighty Boosh myself. Never a fan of solos, let alone bass solos.....

Purge yourself of the slap. It's just a little trick on the bass, great in small doses but like most things, a bit sickly if you have too much of it.

Cheers,

Nigel
