Just got this internal memo, and it made me smile  :)

"I am pleased to announce that we will be renaming the Egton Wing, which is part of New Broadcasting House, after the late Radio 1 DJ, John Peel.  The Peel Wing will be on the site of Egton House, the former home of Radio 1, from where John broadcast throughout his career"

There should be a statue too!

Wonder what John would have thought about it all?

Something suitably laconic, no doubt.  8)
If I paid my licence fee I'd be doubly-chuffed. Well done Beeb.

He would have hated the fuss I think but would have secretly been quite moved.

I'm glad they have done it. Peel Acres in a little bit of Lahndahn.

Yes.  Well done BBC

Now we just need them to re-run all his shows in full and in order. Maybe starting with 1976 like they're doing with Top of the Pops

Nice. Great bloke JP, one of my all time heroes. I have loads of his shows on tape and still listen to them now including sessions from Nirvana, The Smiths, Pavement etc and of course The wonderful, 'Fall' although I have The Fall sessions on CD now, it's not quite the same as the taped stuff with all the chat. There will never be another like him.
