When the sun leaves my vision
and the stars they call me home
          No regrets will i have
As i leave my flesh and bone

Bury, bury me, on Windy Ridge

          When i'm gone..departed
and i've done all i could do
          Please remember my last request
Oh my darlin'..it's up to you

Oh yes. That dulcimer has a beautiful ring. This isn't a simple song by any means, but the mix is pure and uncluttered. Gives a lovely natural and airy feel. The mix of instruments is perfectly balanced. Great harmonies too. Such a wonderful listen, and very happy to see you back in the songwriting saddle!

Mountain magic brother! That synth fiddle is pretty good sounding, but that banjo really makes an impact when it comes in. I dig it!
Oh and I think you mentioned "A Walk in The Woods" by Bill Bryson and I did read that book but not till after my own thru-hike. I might be mistaken but his book is either from the year I hiked '96 or the year before. I know someone wrote about '96 but I can't remember if it was his and he doesn't specify in his book , if I remember correctly. Great book, that's what it's like!
Great song! Your tunes always take me back to a simpler time of my life!
Rock on!

I love this one! You've capture a cool moment here - The music has a mesmerizing quality to it that had me stop everything I was doing just to soak it all in.

And it builds, baby, it builds!!

You sure can write a song, great to hear your music!

Awesome music!

Man, this brings back oodles of memories, all about fine music.

The instruments are so well played. The vocal projects a compelling story.

This will get lots of plays on my over-powered music system.

Fab piece pine, lovely earthy sounds - always happy to put on a real fiddle (saw the unhappy face) if you would like!
