saw john cooper clarke support elvis costello and the attractions at the glasgow apollo, he strolled out on stage with two carrier bags , one full of bits of paper with his poems and the other with a six pack off tenent's lager. he was fabulous.

These are great. It's easy to forget quite how big and lauded he was at the time. I wonder what happened to him. I recall the shock that he (apparently) got a £1m advance on a record deal.

You can see his influence on the title sequence of Shameless now (my fave TV show).
