Haven't written or posted much of late but did just finish writing a simple acoustic folk ballad on the BR800 (double track acoustic guitar and vocals only).  A song about re-committing ones self to a relationship.  As always, appreciate your critiques and input.

"I Will Be"

It's 2 am and I can't sleep, just tossing in this bed,
Listening to your every breath while thoughts race through my head,
Of the times I should have held you close, but stood aside instead,
A life lived on the outside, looking in.

I never told you just how much of you there is in me,
All the while was blinded, to a love I could not see.
But the fog has finally lifted, and my life is meant to be,
The backbeat to the rhythm of your heart.

Chorus:

Let me be the fire that warms you if the embers start to fade.
Let me be a light that shines for you within.
Let me be all that I should have been those times I lost my way.
Let me be all this and more for you each day.

It takes a love that's iron strong to stir what lies inside.
You managed to bring back to life a part of me that died.
I'm in heaven when in your embrace so please reach out my way.
I love you more than all my words can say.

Chorus:

I will be the fire that warms you if the embers start to fade.
I will be a light that shines for you within.
I will be all that I should have been those times I lost my way.
I will be all this and more for you each day.

(coda)

I will be all that I should have been, now that I found my way.
I will be all this and more for you each day.
"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

Farrell Jackson

Excellent folk song! The two acoustic tracks are killer and compliment each other well. You have a good voice and you sing this with conviction and truthfulness. For minimal tracks this is a very full sounding song. Nice work!

Grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. A simple arrangement, but not simple songwriting or playing. A very thoughtful and beautiful song. And you sing it so well... makes the words come across as so convincing and 'real'. Fantastic.
