Another project that's been on the burner for a while...
Written in 1987 (ish, wish I could find my 2nd lyric book!), it's straight 4/4 rock, gigged many times, and the kids like it (but not the wife)
Wanted to see if could get close to the original, can't really get there with the drums...but at least it's in time lol!
I have added a link to the original recording (taken from cassette, cleaned up as best I could a few years ago)

recorded using new EMU1616 into Sonar, no lag...?!?! I was using a 10 year old audigy 2 platinum soundcard, but..I am yet to be completely convinced...
Enjoy  ;)

Lyrics:
I looked out across the sea
Held aloft some diamond studded dream
Trying times bring a stare to fever pitch grabbing at air
Sit down, sink into the chair
Drive to the limits of your driving despair
Time bows to no mans dream, she smiles sweetly sweet destiny

Hold to a word, to what you heard
I'm slipping down into a dream

I stood up to the sky
and yelled abuse at the signs of the times
She's steppin down, pushing on
Hold on brother she will soon be gone
Pull the trigger and sell the chimes
Piece together your pristine life
Wolves are feeding in the night
Give me peace I'm surrounded by mights

I'm slipping down into a dream

I stood up to the night
Give me peace I'm surrounded by 'mights'
Caught in fetters and swallowed lies
Shave my head I'm in mourning tonight
Sit down, sink into the chair
Drive to the limits of your driving despair
Time bows to no mans dream, she smiles sweetly sweet destiny

I'm slipping down into a dream

I was thinking A Flock of Seagulls......

Two cracking versions. It's clearly easy to spot the difference, but incredible what you can do on your own with modern kit. And the original was off Cassette? Amazing quality.

Great Song Andy.

Nice recordings Andy
top class song ---
I think your new version has the edge for me anyway -
altho' that older band recording is pretty classy too--
makes me wonder if we all went back a year or two ago and re-recorded from scratch one of our own songs
how near would we get to our original ?

I really like the home recorded version the best. It has nothing to do with the sound quality - I just like what you did, very cool!

I'm a fan!

I love the studio recording, especially the effects on the guitar. That's not to say I didn't love the home recorded version too. Both were an outstanding listen!

Great tune, Andy! I listened both versions! It is nice hear to how high technical quality is reachable even in homestudio nowadays - the newest version is really well produced!!
