I enjoy The Beach Boys music but I don't really think of Brian Wilson as a singer songwriter. To me, he's more of a composer...and (part time) band leader and member.

Interesting point, he did have a lot of writing partners, like Van Dyke Parks and others. Pet Sounds is my favourite album, its a masterpeice but technically its about 10% Beach Boys and 90% session musicians.
