Using an external preamp with BR 800?...

If I run an external preamp or channel strip into one of the BR 800's channel inputs and I turn the BR 800 preamp all the way down will it essentially bypass the internal preamp or is it still introducing some additional gain, even though its turned down?  I'm assuming I'm still going through the internal preamp somewhat...is there a way to bypass the internal preamp and not introduce the additional gain stage?

I don't think there's any way to bypass the BR-800's input preamps. However, different inputs (Guitar/Mic/Line) have different characteristics. I would assume that the output from an external preamp or channel strip would be line level, so you'd connect it to the BR-800's stereo Line In rather than the Mic or Guitar inputs. There's probably some sort of preamp stage on the Line In but it's different than the Guitar and Mic input preamps and should have little effect on the signal.
