Since my hand is screwed up, does anyone have any good harp exercises?
This song is part of that imaginary album, I've been working on.
Well the album may seem imaginary but the pain in my wrist is definitely real. Lol
A case of repetitive strain I believe.
Ok let me get into character!!! I may actually do this as the spoken word intro to the song.

Well, it's a quite simple story really. I've been driving trucks for about 20 years.
I have the sexiest wife around. I mean she could put some of those Hollywood movie stars to shame, she could.
Over the years though, she's had sort of a wandering eye.
And when I'm off working... it's more then her eyes that are wandering.

Just fiddled with th e drums a bit.

Fly
By Mister Nelson
May 2011

Verse A
Well, I'm rambling on this lonely highway.
With all but my memories (left behind).
And no (matter how far) or (swift I ride).
(I can't escape the pain that haunts my mind).

Chorus
So, I'll fly away, away from here.
Because. I refuse to shed another tear.
Fool me once, its shame on you but twice and its shame on me.
So I'll just fly, away from here.

Verse B
Running away from trouble, ain't my thing.
But, if I stayed it was only going to get worse.
If I hadn't heard my son screaming, "Please don't daddy".
She'd be taking a ride in that big ole Caddie.

Chorus
So, I'll fly away, away from here.
Because. I refuse to shed another tear.
Fool me once, its shame on you but twice and its shame on me.
So I'll just fly, away from here.

Bridge
Missing my boy is driving me insane.
The last thing I recall is him crying in the rain.
OH, but dry your eyes and flip that frown.
That's right my son. Your daddy is homeward bound.

Chorus
So, I'm flying back to where I belong.
Hammer down and 18 wheels are rolling strong.
Got the message, loud and clear, when we spoke on the phone.
Now I'm flying back to where I belong.

Outro
Because. No matter how far or swift I ride.
I can't escape the pain...
Said I can't escape the pain...
No I can't escape the pain that haunts my mind

Man, you get me every time. Such soulful and classy songwriting. You weave the component parts and the shifts with a master's touch. The performance on this is very special; an outstanding lead vocal, and those lush harmonies are sublime. The whole thing is so 'real' and convincing. It's the real deal.

Onto listen number 2 already... it really draws you in, this one.

I agree, a very classy sounding song.  Very polished and pro sounding.  Kinda like soul-folk.

Wow, what a spectacular opening. Harmonies are sweet and engaging. That draw organ and acoustic work well together, the sparse drums are perfect and toms - inspired....

I agree with Tim about the vocals. Lyrics are personal and totally believable. And this SHOULD be on an album.

This could be the track of the year for me
