"Platinum Hit" on Bravo

interesting elimination style show, sort of like american idol, but with songwriting.  Anyone see it?

i saw the first episode and while part of me likes seeing the creative process, part ofme also hates the concept.  some songs that i felt where really good, were considered very dull by the judges.  i bet if McCartney or
Lennon or Bacharach were on this show and were unknown, they wouldn't make it.

I found this show a couple of weeks ago and thought the same thing. Dylan wouldn't last one episode. The judges were telling the songwriters that in the real world, they had 2 or 3 seconds to get their attention, with their songs. I just about fell out of my chair. That's why radio is full of songs, that are nothing but hooks, riffs and beats.
I say, write the music, that moves you and you are more likely to move others.

Interesting. I haven't seen this, but I'll be looking out for it now. The thought of making songwriting 'competitive' is quite a scary one though.

What's the betting I'll want to kick the TV in after a few minutes?! Lol.
