Hi

Here is a song about the fear of the unknown.

The Creepy Guy is a guy that we see in our neighborhood.  He is so strange that he has trouble making contact with people.

The Creepy Guy

Have you seen that creepy guy?
Asks for a smoke, won't look in your eye
He wears the same clothes for 10 long weeks
He only eats food that he finds on the street
He walks every lane in the neighbourhood
The sounds of the town must make him feel good
But he creeps out the girls waiting on tables
He wants to say "Hi" but he isn't able

Have you seen that creepy guy?
He makes a strange croak, he's really shy
He looks like he needs a rahab session
He faces the world with a vacant expression
Should we be scared about something he did?
Where does he come from, where does he live?
He creeps out the shoppers reading the labels
He wants to say "Hi" but he isn't able

Have you seen that creepy guy?
He drinks stray cokes, I don't know why
He sits on the bench at the railway station
He looks like he's used to strong medication
He looks for the change in the ticket machines
He finds anything that the crows haven't seen
But he creeps out the kids reading their fables
He wants to say "Hi" but he isn't able

I hope you like it

cheers,

Ian

Great lyrics, unique rhymes. And set to a catchy melody. I like the guitar work, too - direct, no frills, bouncy.
A bittersweet lesson here, and a story well told.

Great story from real life! A bit melancholy, too. Nice post Ian!

Hi Ian, thought provoking song. I enjoyed the minimilistic approach I think it has more impact done that way.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments.

I wasn't sure about this song.  I didn't know if singing about wierd people is PC these days.  It could easily seen to be taking the piss but in fact what I have written is a fairly accurate description of this guy who looks kind of scary and kind of desperate at the same time.

cheers,

Ian

I think the song works well because you actually make this quite a melancholy song - there's a strong "he may look wierd but underneath he's human like all of us" angle. Good job, I like the straightforward arrangement and the style you use here.

Cheers,

Nigel

Cool song with some excellent real to life lyric!

I especially like theses lines......

"He sits on the bench at the railway station
He looks like he's used to strong medication
He looks for the change in the ticket machines
He finds anything that the crows haven't seen"

They are very visual. I think it's fine to write about situations like this.....it's thought provoking. Well done!

I've got one on the same order that I finished not long ago. I think I'll post it up next week sometime.

Man, I can't believe I missed a song that had creepy in the title.

Very cool tune!! Bouncy vibe with smooth vocal delivery.

Oh, you missed the part where he peeps in peoples windows to see what he can see!

Love it!
