Bad Songs by Great Artists

Greeny

There's a lot of it about. Absolute legends having a momentary lapse in taste and songwriting ability.

Post 'em!  ;D

I'll kick it off with this Stevie Wonder 'Classic'. He sings it like he's on tranquilisers, and the whole thing is the worst kind of shopping mall muzak blandness. Inane lyrics, awful keyboard sounds, and almost pure evil. I'm sure millions of people love it, but I can't even own a Stevie 'best of' because I know this song is on there and might accidentally pop up on random, lol.

Macca is an easy target... 'Mull of Kintyre', 'Frog Chorus', 'Say Say Say', and 'Ebony and Ivory' to name but a few. So many in fact, that it's not really admissable as a 'momentary' lapse, lol....

Oldrottenhead

i actually love this but because my mates band used to d a really punky version of this one, but at the end of the day bowie can do no wrong in my eyes

This is where Bowie totally lost it. It's f*cking awful. And it starts like 'Stonehenge' by Spinal Tap... only not funny or entertaining. Sadly, I saw him on this tour. It was the wrong time and era to see him.

Poor old Bowie! He produced some toal pap both before and after he was wonderful!

Anything from this DVD will just scare you, can't believe he went from this to Ziggy in just a few years:

Also, Google "Sell Me A coat", which also features the very wonderful Hermione and Hutch!

Cheers,

What's this Greeny?!!! A momentry lapse in taste from you sir! :D

These both are superb songs, for very different reasons though...

The other two you mention are dross as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure somebody liked them...

I think the way I'd look at it personally is that I'd be very wary of picking on a song that was a hit as a "Bad Song". A flop mebbe, but a "Hit" and still "well-known" probably means it's got something - not what I want myself mebbe - but something...

Mull of Kintyre is one of my favourite songs, always has been since the day it was released. I hate singing/playing it now (and I imagine he does), but that doesn't mean I don't like it no more. :D

I have to agree with Andy here !!! Mull of Kintyre is one song I would have been proud to have written.

OK... looks like it's just me then, lol

I'll swap 'Mull of Kintyre' for 'Pipes of Peace' ...!

I think there is some 'fishing' going on here...

......I've been hooked. I actually like 'say say say'.

The 'sweetest thing' by U2 could be a contender tho!

'Barcelona' by Freddie Mercury       eeeeeeesh!

As much respect as I have for him, I think this was the beginning of the end for him. I don't think he's done anything worth noting since this song. I love most of everything from the era before this song. After?   ...   ...   ??? ???
