Yep, facemask got him, Andy Frazer - the stuff he did in Free was amazing, right up there with the guitar playing from Paul Kossoff.

My fave "name" bass players at the moment are Geddy Lee and Paul McCartney, though. I've always loved what Mr McCartney did in the middle-period Beatles albums. Mr Lee is a more recent hero of mine, and not just for his bass-playing, he's an all-round music machine...
