QuoteI really dig your instrumentals and think they work just fine without vocals.

...but I gotta feeling (ooh hoo) that ORH is gonna butter your nicely toasted bread.
i was just about to comment on how good the tune was and that i didnt think it possible for a lyric, butas i was about to post i read sandys comment and thought i had better give it a try. lyrics are inspired by asw's original title but hopefully in a not too obvious way

It's something that I can't deny
It's on my mind all of the time
I try to tell myself it's natural
Just a trifling peccadillo

I just can't help myself
It's my DNA
I just can't stop myself
Always been that way
I get these urges
And they won't go away
I hope to god
That we're all the same
And it's not that I'm
So strange

I could be a million miles
Lost deep in my thoughts
Out shopping with my wife
Or sitting on the bus
But no matter where I am
Or what I've got in hand
I get those stirrings
Deep down inside
They're never far away
Like that monkey on my shoulder
They can rise at any moment
And have no conscience

Tell me it's normal
Tell me it's okay
Tell me it's like that for everyone
Tell me it's normal
Tell me it's okay
Tell me it's like this for everyone

It's something that I can't deny
It's on my mind all of the time

Tell me it's normal
Tell me it's okay
Tell me it's like this for everyone

a little butter goes a long way...

I admire your willingness to emerge yourself and go for it.

Jim, I like the direction here and I love the words but I hope you don't mind me saying that like Holdem, I think you should be a bit more aggressive on the delivery in the punky parts ( the slower parts are perfect). If it were me, I would make the vox a bit more staccato and shouty there (without going death metal of course). At the moment you are singing them and because the tempo is fast you get a little behind the rhythm in the second verse and the "Tell me it's normal" first time round. Think Turning Japanese by the Vapors....

Cheers,

Nigel

Great lyrics! I agree that a bit of dirt / distortion on the vox would work a treat. But the vocal melody is bloody fab. Lovely stuff.
