My first new song for 2023.  Hope you enjoy.  I know I've been amiss on my listening to others here.  I promise I will get to some of your tunes very soon.  Thanks for understanding.

Without a song in my heart you may never know
Without a love in my life it won't be easy
Without a reason in my mind why should I go on
You're all that I've been living for
You think I'm crazy

The stars have begun to fall
It will never be the same
The sun's been replaced with rain
Ecstasy with pain
The birds they still sing their songs
but I don't hear them
You'll never understand
You're my whole world

Without your love in my life I will never feel
Without your touch to bring me joy my heart can never heal
Without your voice to drown out the rain I'll know only pain
I will never love again
I could never be the same

Your love has been my redemption
Giving me the calm to face the storm
Never thought you meant so much to me
How could I have been so blind.

Your love has been my redemption
Giving me the calm to face the storm
Never thought you'd mean so much to me
How could I have been so blind.

Without a song in my heart you may never know
Without a love in my life it won't be easy
Without a reason in my mind why should I live on
You're all that I've been living for
You drive me crazy

John that is such a beautiful song. Music is beautiful as ever, but what I get out of this the most is the message and the lyrics. Delivered with passion and a great honesty. Love the tune.

this is a real gem!

It starts off and on the 5th listen it hit me between the eyes... that intro is like "Madman Across the Waters" on steroids.
There are so many great little details in this track.  The drums are fantastic and the bass.
The bass gets to wander around like Johnny Applesead, planting many seeds along the way that spring up into horns and other niceties throughout.
The piano is such a delight and tickles my insides.  The strings make this sing around your vocals in those spots.
Intelligent music this is sir!
Vocals are the usually high standard and then some.  Your use of starts and stops makes me realize this ain't no 3 chord rocker!

Always interesting music from you, John. Lovely melodies and chord changes. Also great production technique and cool lyrics. BTW is that trumpet real? I can never tell these days with the virtual libraries that are available. Real or not, sounds great.

Lovely song John! This one reminds me of the more recent explosion in Indie music of 70s style piano balladers. This one could almost be off of a Weyes Blood, Father John Misty or
new Artic Monkeys album. I really like the melody here and your harmonies are pure class! Excellent...
