Title: The day I met Henwrench
Post by: Tangled Wires on September 12, 2010, 01:35:31 PM
I was down in Cornwall last week and wanted to collect my copy of "Wrong Songs" personally, so arranged a meet up with the man himself.

Enjoyed a couple of hours of talking about Songcrafters, Football and anything else that cropped up, as well as enjoying a nice cold beer on a lovely sunny day with fantastic scenery.  The journey back to our accommodation flew by as we listened and enjoyed a great CD (buy it if you haven't already...its fabulous....a steal at £5!).

It was really great meeting a fellow Songcrafter and if I am in other parts of the country in future will try and arrange to meet up with others. Would recommend anybody visiting Cornwall to get in contact with Henwrench for a meet up, a top man and great company...we could have talked all day!

Have attached a couple of pictures and as you will see we also had the pleasure of Baby Henwrench's company as well.

It looks like the kind of afternoon I would enjoy... and it looks like a fine red ale in Henwcrotch's hands.

Looks like a great time! And beer is always good...  :)

The scenery in background looks a bit like my neck of the woods, although I'm on the other side of that big pond...

Def a dream of mine, to meet each and everyone of you songcrafters!!

Great pics Andrew and Henny!!   Looks like daughter Gringo Henwrench is real dancer!

Is that a flippin castle or mansion on an island in the background?

Tommy, it is St Michaels Mount near Penzance in Cornwall which is a medieval castle located on its own island, although you can actually walk across to it via a causeway most of the time. We thought it was a pretty cool backdrop for a photo!

What a wonderful day!!  It is good to see the pics, and remember all the stuff we talked about... as Andrew said, we could've talked for hours and hours... I think we just about mentioned every Songcrafter member by name, talked music and the importance of this site in our lives. Nothing but happy memories fill my gap-toothed gypsy grin head. And yes BB, that be a red ale in my hand, a Cornish beer that goes by the rather delightful name of 'Doombar'.
It was a truly magnifecent thing to meet Andrew and his Mrs, Lisa. When I first saw him, I thought he was a human Praying Mantis, but he is OK!! He talks normally, but his choice of football team is a bit dodgy....

Beautiful part of the world, and I love the beards. Either it's a wannabee ZZ Top tribute band or it's Piratefest in the flesh. Altho Baby Henwrench has some way to go in the beard stakes, hopefully a road she will never travel. Great to take the opportunity to meet up and share a beer.

Cheers,

Nigel

I've been reading this from afar. Partially because I'm amazed it's such a small world, and partially because I am so far away!  ;D

Yes - I love it!

I felt quite inadequate in the beard department upon meeting Mr Henwrench, his impressive folliage made mine look like a bit of bum fluff on my chin.

I have a running list of people I'd like to meet, in no particular order. Launched and I damn near made it happen in March. I might just have to make one more NH trip to  see that one to fruition.

Glad to see the one on ones continuing to happen here.

Why don't you grab Mark in NH, come north and grab Cuth, and come over the border to end up here in Saint John.  Ah well it is fun to dream of such great fun.

Then we will head west and grab Fuzzface, then Gnasty and Vann then  before heading all the way out to crash at Sandy's place.  You got enough couches in your livingroom for us Sandy.

It's great meeting up with people from here, I've met Tim, James and Tharek so far, meeting Geir in less than a week.

If anyone is heading up North in the UK or coming over from foreign parts to the Leeds area, please give me a shout.

hmmmm....we got some soft carpeting and a lush back lawn!

Hey Dave...I had a dream that I met you last night...I think it was here in Burnaby, BC but not too sure...you also had shaved your gotee but I knew it was you. I introduced you to a friend as Barry and got all embarrassed!

Thats hilarious, just the other day I was remembering my time living in Vancouver, 1983-84, I was living at the Kitsilano/Jerico Beach Youth hostel, and later on along 4th Ave somewhere (lovely part of Vancouver), can't quite remember, and for some reason I was wondering that it would be strange if I ever bumped into you during that time.  It was just a passing random thought the other day.  I totally forgot about it until you mentioned this dream.  Maybe...who knows.  Freaky cool stuff.

I moved to Vancouver from Montreal in the summer of 84 with my family. I was 16...and not at all happy about moving one year before graduation.

If we were to do the North American Tour, I'd be in as well. Although the routing would definitely Change. Gnasty is much closer to me than Launched. Dave, You are going to have to be the host. We couldn't go further in a one direction than you. The bright side of having an ocean at your back door, You would have the least amount of travel.

The downside, you're going to have a yard full of drunken musicians in the morning. The neighbors would love it.

Of course there is the option of meeting in the middle too. We should start selling cookies and shit at Wal-Mart to supplement the costs of travel etc. Mark can wash cars in a bikini. Yeah, this could work...
