Title: The Life of a Bubble
Post by: henwrench on May 23, 2010, 04:12:16 PM
Vocals please!  old henwrench knows this should go on the Collab Board but old henwrench has got whiskey in his body and wants some poor unfortunate soul to finish this for all at henwrench towers. I would like the title included somewhere....any takers? Do your best....

here you go henny
QuoteYou know I don't know what's longer
My attention span
Or the life of a bubble
Or the life of a bubble

I want it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

I need it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

You know I don't know what's more tenuous
My fragile mind
Or the life of a bubble
Or the life of a bubble

I want it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

I need it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

Faster than the life of a bubble

I want it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

I need it
Right now
Faster than the life of a bubble

You prick me
I might just burst!

That's the mother of all bass lines! You gotta be quick off the mark on here to beat ORH to a vocal, lol. But as always, he dishes up a real quality addition.

There's a great, taut energy to this track. So flipping good.

Superior stuff.

Top quality as usual henwrench, that bass creates such a cool groove to this. Quite how vocals of this quality can be added so quickly is beyond me, unbelievably good.

Very catchy tune guys.
Great riff and vocals.
That guitar sound is really tight Henny. I likey very much.

P.S. - I was gonna borrow a can of "pork 'n' beans" from Launched and go sit in my bathtub to see if I could come up with some lyrics for ya. Oh-well maybe next time.  ;D

alright... I got something. kinda weird... I started writing in one mood, but the pure rock n roll'ness of Henny's track changed my mind on the tone I was shooting for. So I changed it. A bit cliche with some of the words, but I'll let you decide on that. ;)
I did a remix and changed the mp3...
**Another remix... Don't know why I having such a problem with this... :/

Life of a Bubble
Hanging over from another night of drinking
and I don't know who's next to me

Making sure I never bother thinking
so I float from place to place you see

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

I go where ever the wind takes me
As long as I don't come back again

knowing only that I live to be free
It doesn't matter who what or when

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

Be careful baby
You don't want me to... POP
I'm in a fragile state darlin
Don't think I want you to stop
It's all I have to give baby
Spin you like a top

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

   I'm drifting away
   I'm drifting away
This is the life of a bubble

   I'm drifting awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
This is the life of a bubble

I've been swamped by work and haven't been able to get on here much (well at all) recently. I just quickly jumped in to tale a look and saw this, and just had to listen. Only had time to hear the ORHenwrench version but it's a STUNNER! The guitar lines and the bass are fantastic, and Jim's vox are fantastic. Henny, the way you recorded those rhythm guitars is excellent, the production and sound here is fantastic. Really great track, will listen to the others if (when) I get a chance.

Did I say fantastic enough? Cos that's what it is.

Reminded me a tad of Love and Rockets if anything, but as usual it's a very unique and original piece of work.

Cheers,

Nigel

ok ... this happened very fast

The Life of a Bubble

Concentrate
what to do?
walking around in my old brown shoes

evaluate
a coffee break?
eat your bread, you know what's at stake

procreate
not too late?
why don't we do it in the road anyway

Ephemeral choices
female voices
you'll never hear the noise
when your jewels'r'in the rubble

Shotgun silence
Visual snow blindness
you wanna make it last
like the life of a bubble

na na na na na .... no no ni Nothing
gonna end too good when the
trouble is the first thing

na na na na na .... no no not anything
will be left untouched in the
crash of a  speed king

ma ma ma ma .... ma ma mo monkeys
can be left to starve
when the  scruffy aunt forget keys

Ephemeral choices
female voices
you'll never hear the noise
when your jewels'r'in the rubble

Shotgun silence
Visual snow blindness
you wanna make it last
like the life of a bubble

pa pa ... paparazzi picture
taken in a mirror and
reflecting wrong exposure

ratata ta to to ti ti television
turning out the lights of someone
hiding in the kitchen

bo bo bo ....bo bo ba bananas
eat a rotten orange
and wear a red pojama !

Here is my time pressed pitchy go of it. Wish I had seen this sooner. I packed it all in two tracks which was a mistake. Well, I hope there's a brown ribbon for a prize.  ;D

Now it's time to listen to the good takes...

Mark

Gone to get my blood from a stone
Knock on the door but there's nobody home

Hit the street with my blueberry wine
Feelin' heavy by quarter to nine

I know what you know and they know
The life of a bubble now
I go so slow, but the love flows
My life is a bubble now

Ohhhhh :)

I'm so stupid - I know all I know
Feelin' lonely but I'm fine on my own

See the people working their days
Burning time in so many ways

I know what you know and they know
The life of a bubble now
I go so slow, but the love flows
My life is a bubble now

Ahhhhh :)

I know what you know and they know
The life of a bubble now
I go so slow, but the love flows
My life is a bubble now

It was pretty hard mashing up the ORH & Sai takes, Launched on his own is fantastic and I'll try and shoehorn Geir in there somewhere, and oh, yea a Greeny and Tharek play off would be ace!! It's like breakdancing competitions or something, you know 'Launched Vs Geir' HA HA HAAA  ;D ;D

When they're all done, maybe do a poll to see which version gets on the next henwrench album, I couldn't choose, or stick 'em all on one CD maxi-single HA HA HAAAA  ;D ;D

Maybe I'm a bit odd, but I can't do my own original take on something once it's been done by somebody else. And this one has several versions interfering with my own ideas. I can only feed on fresh meat, lol.
Title: licky frogs - vic dylan's take on the life of a bubble by henwrench
Post by: Oldrottenhead on May 27, 2010, 03:20:49 AM
Quotei was very very drunk last night and had a great idea (well it seemed it at the time). the idea was to do 7 different versions, all with different lyrics but in the singing style of different artists, artist with voices that are distinct and easily impersonated, dylan, bowie, peter gabriel, al jolson, tiny tim, coolio and sting.

this morning it doesnt seem such a good idea, my voice is like louis armstrongs and my brain hertz.
i was channeling vic reeves and bob dylan for this version. one down six to go.

Quotehey i heard there were monkeys
and alligators too
the llamas need
some cheering up
they both look rather blue

my packed lunch
is lovely

i was kissing the tigers
and swimming with prawns
there were frogs in the hot house
i only licked one
the man who took me home
was nice

my packed lunch
is lovely
and tasty

the lettuce
is crispy
but moist

im gonna get me some of those frogs
they were licky
licky frogs

i was kissing the tigers
and swimming with prawns

Maybe I'm a bit odd, but I can't do my own original take on something once it's been done by somebody else. And this one has several versions interfering with my own ideas. I can only feed on fresh meat, lol.

That's why you are not supposed to listen to them until AFTER you do you own version!  ;)

Thats an understatement.  I have listened to all these posted so far and what great creative lyrics and vocals all around.  Playing all the ORH ones back-to-back, its too much really, they sorta get progressively more out there as they come, it is like a strange trip into a strange land, utter mad brilliance.  Sai and Mark are equally brilliant in their own very different ways.  What a great experiment.  I may try something myself this weekend time permitting.

Insane brilliance from Mark, Geir and Sai, and then Jim just disappearing into an ever increasing spiral of lunacy. His takes just get funnier and funnier (and ruder!), so much imagination. Brilliant thread everyone!

Cheers,

I managed to incorporate the line "The life of the bubble got longer " and have just realized it should have been "the life of a bubble" to keep to the rules set by Henwrench arh well its too late now to change it .
