Title: 'Forever Bloom' Greeny Original
Post by: Greeny on April 27, 2010, 04:30:47 AM
Quite a lot going on in this one: acoustic guitar, phased telecaster, synth-strings, jazz organ, bass and vocals. All done on the MBR. Thanks for listening  :)

Forever Bloom
Written, played and mixed by Tim Green

This is just stunning Tim! Love the "floating" qualities of the arrangement. And the songwriting here is superb. I've compared your bassplaying with Macca before, and that applies here too, but here the whole song reminds me of something Sir Paul could have written. The chordprogression, some of the melody and the harmonies. Still it sounds 100% Greeny !!!

Amazing song !

On to 3rd listen now

Love the vocal melody! Personally, I thought the phase effect made it feel a little muddled, especially in the beginning intro. Was hard to hear the changes. Hmm... Maybe if it was mixed a bit lower so it wasn't so prevalent? AH! Nevermind! Don't mind me... Listened to it three times already. Sounds pretty damn good! One of my favorites of yours actually ;)

Ahh, those were sweet sounds, bro! I loved everything about it. My fave part was the solo and the bass line. So relaxed, like you didn't even have to try. That kind of stuff makes my day.

Very solid!

Excellent work Tim, really gentle and emotional song. Lovely vocal performance and super bass playing again, like Mark I really like that side of your songs. The melodic bass lines create a great counterpoint to the rhythm work. Nice sound on the guitar solo as well, that's a good contrast and it fits the song well.

I'm undecided about the phase effect. It creates a nice dreamy effect but it can overpower the vox in the verses a bit, especially the quiet part. I'd be tempted to pull it down a bit there but it doesn't spoil the song, which is still great.

Cheers,

Nigel

A really nice bit of songwriting Tim...I hear a little Oasis and a little George Harrison influence. A great mix - airy and gentle.

Top notch playing and singing all around.  Simultaneously catchy and soothing.  Bass and guitar solo are brilliant.  I vote for upping the vocal a bit and fading the ending slowly while repeating the chorus.  But this is a killer pro song and playing all around.

God that has sent me back in time. The swirling phaser really puts me in mind of early Rush circa1975. Hope that's taken as a compliment because it most certainly is meant as 1. Is that a preset or Ur own setup? Absolutely love the sound. listening again

Great song - Gritter is right, definitely a touch of George Harrison feel to this. Could have have gone on for another 5 minutes to save keeping it on repeat. The phase effect added to the atmosphere perfectly.

Another great song Greeny!

Those high harmonies are wicked man!
I love the chord choices in this song. This sounds so full and lush - it's just great!

One of your best (me thinks).

Very pro stuff!
(The ending got kind of chopped off though - maybe just the player?)
