What a great song, congratulations for your work!
The song itself has a great mood, it's very well written and has a distinct sound. Although I think it could benefit from a different final and if you shorten it a bit.
The lyrics complement the song very well, they have a uplifting effect.
The recording sounds nice. I have some questions: Did you use a keyboard? Did you bounce the instrumental part and then recorded the vocals on the two empty tracks? The Drums are onboard, right?
Thank you for sharing your work.
:)
drums recorded from pc using cubase via line in to tracks 1 and 2 , then guitars to tracks 3 and 4 then bounce to tracks 1 and 2 v2 then so on and on, vocals done on micro built in mike then just kept bouncing to fit it all on.no keyboards used on this one, as i remember. lol
theres a vid for this on youtube too.

great song man, really inspirational.
I read some reply that said "try using different octives with the vocals"
is this song an example of that?

i think so , not sure if vocal harmony is a full octave apart but singing lead vocal twice but at two varying pitches, yeah probably an octave apart, as in the same key but one high one low, does that make sense hic, yes ive bin drinking again.
very nice-i like your voice ohr
how did you do the drums? did you make an arrangement with the micro kit?
ron
no i did drums on cubase midi-ed then converted to wav then tons o reverb
thats the ticket-ive been having fun with ezplayer lately-my other xmas present
Holy shit!!!

Ah, the good old days!
Oldrottenhead posted this wonderful song three years ago today on his 48th birthday. It was his first post at Songcrafters (known as microrecorders.org at the time) and only the 9th message ever posted by anyone.
Happy Birthday, James!
blast from the wellspring of time
I browsed ORH's playlist and noticed this fabulous tune! The first one by him!! I listened it via headphones and watched the video (linked on page 1). Fine job! The backing vocals works well! Very catchy brit pop song with 80's feel, imo!
Kari
Way to go ORH! I always say no matter what a song is recorded on...if the performance is there and most importantly if the song is appealing it will shine through. This is a great song and the fact that you recorded it on an Micro Br gives it even more appeal. Great work!
Farrell
Well done Jim.
It has an infectious uplifting energy to it.
The mix and production smartly executed.
I just love the feel of it. It really stays with you.
Well done my friend.
Bump for the birthday boy and a great song. This is the earliest song post remaining here at Songcrafters (there was one earlier one by Pedro but he deleted it). Attachment #3 (attachment #2 is Pedro's avatar). This song post (and the site) is now four years old!
Braw, tell yer maw.
updated my first post on songcrafters by adding the video at beginning of the thread. was inspired to do this as the song got a comment on youtube today.
and it is international mic testing day.
Still braw tell yer maw. And coming up to five years old!
What a great first post, from one of the pioneers...
And this is the first time I've heard it! ::) Braw, I dun told mah maw :)
On This Day bump for the birthday boy.
Still brilliant!
Kari
This one is absolutely awesome Jim! Oldie but a goodie!
not my first song, but my first here.
Your some man for one man Jim!!!!

A bump for the birthday boy !!!
Listened to this earlier - very cool introduction, I really enjoyed this tracj=k.
B
not an OTD bump, but a 'Ive never checked out the Golden Oldies Jukebox and discovered this' bump - very cool Jim, its a bit disturbing for me that your recordings were sounding this great 7 years ago!
Andy
Happy Birthday
and
Happy 8th Anniversary!
Wow James! 8 years and 1391 songs under your belt...congrats for this milestone and your first post is a killer song!
Farrell
10 years old and the first time I have heard it,
This is brilliant James, Love it...
From the golden oldies...
Alex.
This is the second song ever posted at Songcrafters. However, since Pedro deleted the first song, this is the earliest surviving song post. And what a song! Still sounds as great today as it did when I first heard it ten years ago.
Wow a bit of nostalgia.
Sounds bloody good.
Looking through The Golden Oldies, i came across this little gem again..
Well done James.... Alex
Thanks for unearthing this, lovely track!
by now I have heard quite a few ORH tunes...this is so good...really flows along nice...very uplifting as Pedro said on page 1...but for me not to long...not at all..I really enjoyed the video...seemingly about a guy with big ideas and belief that everyone else pretty much blows off...and his face when he hit times square...so happy..
too bad I don't have time to hear every one of James songs or every song on SC...but I give it a good try though...
A flash from the past. This might have been from a little before I joined the board. It is so good I think I would have remembered it if I had heard it. I love the lyrics and the bass and backing vocals sound especially good on this.
