I finally got this damn song finished. I started before the Neilfest, but then it took a backseat when the Neilfest sucked me in, then other life duties got in the way, then Woodstockfest sucked me in for a bit, finally I got back to it and finished er up this week. I felt like writing a bit of a rocker (for me anyway), so here it is. Les Paul for the solos for that snarl. My Harmony-G helped with the harmonies (for those that need to know ;)) Let me know what you think of this one.
You know what's comin'.....
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!! (https://songcrafters.org/forum/general-discussion-b8/bossbr-net-glossary/msg41454/#msg41454)
Excellent driving rhythm, and love those solo breaks. The verse vocal lines are great - that Harmony-G work is big time cool. Original as hell!!
You tha Man, BB - On my second listen right now. I'll be playing this one for a while!!
Peace, bro!!
Mark
P.S. That lead work is awesome!! You whipped out a big 'ol can of "F$#k Yeah" while making this!!
Thanks Mark, I knew you would appreciate this one. When laying down those solos I felt like it was me and my guitar against the whole world, all problems could be solved with that LesPaul. I almost felt like the rain and howling wind was coming right into the room while playing. Funny stuff this songwriting hu? Thanks for being the first to listen to my new song, I can now drink red ale and relax for a few days.
Hey BB..Excellent job on this one. Old deafdog can even hear the lyrics...and your vox...what ya been doin', practicing scales? Not a bad note to be heard...best vox yet!
The mix was good...not sure what a harmony g is...a harmonizer unit? Works well and added alot. Gotta say this though...it appears that you and i both have been severely influenced , perhaps subconsciously, by Neil Young. This screams Neil Young! I hear a melody shadow of Heart of Gold and your lead playing...in notes and in tones, has a Neil feel. i LOVED that one really high note and the outro was too cool. Very emotional and unorthodox and unpredictable. Me thinks ye deserves at least two red ales for this fine effort!! 8)
Straight to PiePod -- without even a listen. I'm taking this on vacation with me. I'll be in San Francisco when I give it my first listen.
Oh yeah BB!!!! If you posted this on the Neilfest everyone would believe it was a Neil-song!! It's reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good !!
Great singing too!! And I don't mind some G-harmonies ;D
Guitarwork is super and the production is just brilliant !!!
Man, I was just getting ready to go to bed... This is awesome - just truly woke me up! Everything sounds so well mixed, and the voice/chorus fits like a glove. I'll be sharing this one with my kids! Just got done posting a couple of songs and recorded while practicing for a gig! And thought of listening to a new posting before hitting the sack. This is truly an excellent song!
Your guitar works is amazing BB , what a brilliant song , also i think that you have written a song that suits your vocal style emmensely , your harmony G is a tool that should be used wisely though, it does give some very interesting results , and i cant say i would'nt like to try one , because i would , but that said , this is a wonderful song and you deserve all the credit thats going mate.
As Neil once said it's all about the Muse , and you for one certainly give your all to that on this site , well done mate
Yes this will be downloaded and added to all all the other great songs
Rob
epic. . . . . . .
Am stunned bb.. . . .
This is truly amazing!
Damn, that's good!! Sort of Neil Young meets Leon Russel meets Joe Cocker, but still all you 8)
Thanks everybody, I guess I was listening to so much Neil Young during that Neilfest we had, I had a rocking kind of tune in my head, and Mr. Young's vibe was very present during the recording of this. I didn't try to create a Neil Young song, I just wanted some of the Neil Young soul to flavor this one, I guess I got it right. The drums and bass are from the BR-1200 rhythm editor, I like to use them because it gives a real nice clear (noiseless) bass line that keeps perfect time (unlike my futile attempts), on this song I was trying to really get into the rhythm editor (and learn how to use it properly) and make it sound as good as possible, using the chord map and all that. I go back and forth on songs between real bass (I am no bass player, thats for sure) and BR-1200 bass, whatever seems like the way to go, on this one I wanted a real driving pounding feel to the drums and bass, like rain pounding down the whole time, it felt like the 1200 was going to get me a tighter sound between drums and bass.
As soon as I finished this song and posted it, it started to rain, really hard, just out of nowhere. It hadn't rained all day, and I mean hard hard rain, it was very freaky.
Thanks for all the great comments, I just had to get this one out before I exploded (thats how it felt), I can relax now for a little while, I am not going to start any new original songs for at least a week :D. Thanks all 8)
Sorry BB...
Just realized that I Hid this in some posts...
Bumped back up.....

Bump!!
Hey, I found your secret:
You must have had "Astounding Licks" cranked to 11!
I just love your guitar playing, bro!!
Mark
Nice one, BB!
Mark, can I get that pedal at Daddy's Junky Music? :D
I love Daddy's - why buy new, really? You might find one if you stay on top of it :D. Kind of scarce like a Metal Zone or a CE-5...
Man, I hear the Neil Young as well...that edge-of-cliff playing. Really nice.
Blooby
BB this is feckin great man-superb playing-those harmonies really work
Very nice! Luuuuuv the guitar solo that starts about 2 minutes in. If guitars can weep, yours was wailing. Good job!
This is great Bluesberry, very strong song. There's a lot to like about this, but one thing that grabbed me was the intro - very dramatic start that really draws you in right from the off. The guitar solos are particularly strong, powerful without being over complex and it's a great guitar sound that really suits the song. The drum programming is very good as well, some nice little changes in there. It's also a real grower, a good structure that really gets inside your head. There's definitely an NY influence in there, especially the "They've sown the wind..." section but actually other parts of the song don't sound that NY to me, they sound more Bluesberry to me!
Great stuff, very well done indeed.
Cheers,
Nigel
BB you have moved into a different place now
This is just awesome the constuction the lyrics the vox and that sublime guitar
This should define your future stuff
your are now truly a songwriter! Well Done!
you have moved to a different level!
Straight to PiePod - Cranked!!
And Yes Mark, I took it for the car-stereo test before posting. It had to pass that test, put it on my I-pod, plug into my car stereo, crank it to the max, drive around. The drums and bass sounded exactly how I wanted them to sound in this full volume test, so I knew it was ready to post, sounds good in the truck eh Mark? I get so much inspiration from this site, thanks everybody!!!!!!!
For interest sake, for the rhythm part I layered multi guitar parts all across the stereo field (playing various different shapes for the same chords for depth): TR1-Sheraton-R30, TR2-strat-R70, TR3-Sheraton-L30, TR4-strat-doubled full L&R, TR5-Les Paul-L70. The nice thing about the BR-1200 is that you can lay a bunch of guitar tracks down like this and mix them all into a nice stereo rhythm track at one bounce. I wanted to start out with a wall of guitars as the basis for this, the song took off from this starting point.
Maybe a more acoustic type song next. You can only have so much wall of guitar sound before your ears start to bleed. ;)

This one sounds great in the truck! And it will again in about 20 min. when I head to town. I always do the vehicle test as well before posting. It keeps the bass honest, too - I just don't have headphones that are good enough to get the full picture.
Neil Young yeah, but more you. Great job! I cant write a rock song to save my ass :( You have inspired me to work harder at it.
BB, what can you tell me about the Sheraton? I played one last week and am seriously tempted. Let me stress the word seriously.
When I play a semi-hollow body, I mostly hear the difference from solid bodies through tube amps. Does it really sound that much different when you are going through modeled amps?
Blooby
The Sheraton is a really nice, well built guitar, I tried a lot of semi-hollows at the stores around here and for the money, the sheraton seemed the nicest and had the nicest tone (of the guitars in the price range). It is a very sweet, thick tone. Yes it is very notable on amp simulation, it sounds totally different than my Les paul through the microBR, BR-1200 or pocket Pod w headphones. It sustains very nice, it is harmonically rich. When I first got it home I would hit a note and just hold it and vibrato it slightly and just let this decay off ever so slowly, very sweet, fat, rich tone. It feels slightly awkward to play for long periods, and I don't play it all the time, but there is a tone I get that I can't get with any of my other guitars. I certainly love mine. It records very nicely I find.
Here is a blues jam I did a while back with the Sheraton which gives a good idea of its tone through a pocket pod. (https://songcrafters.org/forum/micro-br-b65/bluesberrys-bluesy-jam/msg32901/#msg32901)
Sorry BB... I'm having trouble just keeping up with the micro posts, so I don't wander off that thread as much as I'd like. This definitely has a Neil flavour to it (with a touch of The Band on the harmonised parts). The guitars are wonderful, and your production is spot on. Throw in that real kick-ass solo, and it all adds up to a highly accomplished song and performance. Glad I got here eventually!

Thanks for the information, BB. Money is tight right now, but I think I will end up getting one some time this year. I was really blown away by the one I played in the store, but I was also playing it through a great sounding Fender Twin. Is there a cure for g.a.s.?
Blooby
Hey BB -Glad this one got bumped up. As others have already said - you definitely drank the "Neil Juice" on this one. Great guitar work and a really good song. You've got the harmonies in the just the right places too.
All round good job man! Nice work!
This is just intensely good. I dream of following your footsteps BB. Your vocals have improved tremendously since I've joined this site, and those solos are to die for.
Great song Neil, I'm mean Dave!! This is really good - cool singing & harmonizing & wailing les paul - very nice indeed!!
Great job Bluesberry!
I listened it several times from the headphones. That was a strong presentation. Good sounds etc. So, you used BR-1200 rhythm and bass editor. Sounds good with the fills.
I just received the e-mail that BR-1200 is on the way from Germany and it takes about five days when it is here. I can't wait...
Thanks Redler, I can't wait to hear what you come up with on your new machine.
F-ing awewsome bro! Holy snotface!
BB, nice vox on here for sure. Really liking the harmonizing in there. Missed this one along the way, but I'm glad I found it...a download for sure. I bet the drum track took a while to piece together...those buggers are always picky. Premium solos too...tone really singing.
BossMicroBRew
wow the talent here is something else -but brill guitar playing and vocals at the same time -congrats -
OTD BB bump!
Rock On!
Nice bump! I always remember this gem!! Can't believe that 5 years has gone...
Very cool bump - great track.
How did I miss this??
Another gem from a master of Songcrafting. The guitar and vocals sound amazing, and the harmonies are bang on the money.
It does have a bit of a Neil Young vibe to it, but it still has your unmistakeable style stamped all over it
The scary thing is that your have got even better over the five years since :o :o
OTD bump. Miss you Dave.
Rock On!
