Title: Bullion (maxit & greeny)
Post by: maxit on December 31, 2023, 05:38:55 PM
It makes sense to begin the new year with some R&R !!!
Happy new year!

Bullion

There's very little that I need these days
Just a chair out in the yard
Birds on wires and planes flying overhead
I catch some rays when life gets hard

The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
And I'm a rich man every time she shines
The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
I don't want cash for gold just want some wine

Been doing maintenance at the overlook hotel
Too many ghosts locked in that place
London and Rome with a Tele and a slide
I'll crack the safe and play my ace

The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
And I'm a rich man every time she shines
The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
I don't want cash for gold just want some wine

Every time she shines on me
It's like Fort Knox in this city

What you got? Read 'em and weep
A golden joker in the late afternoon
Pink light Los Angeles as the shadows stretch
Over retro furniture in a motel room

The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
And I'm a rich man every time she shines
The sun's a tonne of gold bullion
I don't want cash for gold just want some wine

Every time she shines on me
It's like Fort Knox in this city

Man what a way to kick off the year. Love the lyrics, some great lines... "overlook hotel" line super cool. The guitar sounds are real old school stonesy or something like that. Absolutely bang on... what a sweet tune gents.

This is good. Like the strings and the arrangement in general, works really well.

Cool song - like the guitar picking and the production is pretty damn good. Cool laid back vocals.

Excellent song fellas, exquisite lyricism from Greeny and a lovely, full arrangement here. I dig that 60s pysch style lead on here as well. I love that cranked up, sorta fuzzy tone. Always great to hear a song from you guys!

That's a great original song guys.
Love those lyrics and it's an excellent chirpy vibe musically.
We could do with some of that gold bullion in scotland at the moment.
Great stuff.

A very cool collab. gentlemen! It sort has a Warren Zevon vibe to me. Great vocals and words Tim! Maxit, the acoustic guitar gives the song a fun element. The tone on the solo is gritty and classy. Nicely done!

This was one of those "Stop, rewind, and put on the headphones" songs.

It does a something of a genre switcheroo, but it's very gradual. The main guitar style is almost folky. The crazy, fuzzy, tremolo slide guitar way over on the left gets replaced by some synth strings. And then the retro rock lead comes in over on the right. The honky-tonk piano appears on the left. The strings disappear. The fuzzy slide comes back. The drums and bass drop off. You've been on a journey, and you barely notice it.

Who is on bass here? It's a great bass tone, and the part is solid and simple – but not too simple or repetitive. I'll betcha anything this was the first take.

Great work!

You re all right, as usual! Me and tim had just the Stones in mind (keith r8chards turned 80 just now, and ypu can hear his famous g tuning in the final section), and yes again, our version of the stones resemble zevon lol. Hey, i like the bassline too (it s me 9n the keyboard with a fender precision bass plugin: no first takes, long hours of back pain instead lol

Lovely performances all around. There is a subtle sound under the verses. Can't place it because it is low in the mix but don't dare make it louder. Cool arranging.

Just the sentiment needed heading into the new year. Thanks for this.

I love it. I particularly like the mixture of long sustained notes and short staccato notes. It's subtle, but its one of the things that make the song hold your attention.
