Title: Observing the Christmas Party
Post by: thetworegs on December 23, 2023, 09:20:28 AM
YuleFest (banner image missing)

Reg was walking home from a nice Christmas drink at his local boozer and noticed through the window a Christmas party going on so he thought he'd watch a while......
I'm sat out on the pavement
With holes inside my shoe
Observing another office celebration
as the year is nearly through
The tinsel hangs loose on the tree
The workers enter the room on cue
Mary never liked Alice
since Kevin told her they were through
Micheal pines after Susan
since last years Christmas kiss
The Manger Ted really dislikes
everyone in the room
But is forced to smile be pleasant till all the booze is consumed
Jane has too much to drink and cuddles up to Nick
Nicks been single way too long but he's had too much to drink

Janes perfume is way to strong, as he snuggles into her neck
The mix of perfume and too much Gin
Goes right to Nicks dizzy head
The music pounds away
And Nick starts to feels sick
He try to turn away but Jane clings on and still he feels sick
The vomit starts to rise it swells into his throat
As the vomit violently pours all over Jane
Gary doesn't notice a thing
He's too busy chatting up Rebecca again
He forgets she's his wife's friend and if it gets out  his marriage will end

The Christmas party is in full swing and everyone is having a laugh
The musics plays, George is singing last Christmas its really loud
Slade is at full boar and all the crowd sings along

Trace & Rob come out from toilets after a quickie realise their friendship is now done
After the Christmas Party they will never speak again
Never speak again

I like your guitar and that clapping and kick rhythm works very well. I was gonna say that you've conjured a great perspective, an observational bent, for a Christmas song. But there's a solidly irreverent feel to my mind. Marriages at risk, quickies in toilets, lost friendships... And it's all believable, too. What a great take on the yule festival.

I've been to that party. Lou Reed by way of London.

Super clever.

This is wild...a wild ride ...what a Dickensonian thing of beauty you have crafted

I agree with Dave. A thing of beauty indeed. You have conjured up a wee nugget here. It is a bit like the atmosphere on Fairytale of New York on steroids. Oh yes some great images in there. That image of Nick rings a bit too close for comfort :)
