Wish I was a millionaire; I'd place gold at your feet
Dance like Fred Astaire, waltz you down your street
I wish I was debonair or with some gift so blessed
But one thing I promise you I will give you my best.
I wish I could be strong and win every race
Never string you along or lie to your face
Admit it when I'm wrong and be the first to confess
And one thing I promise you I will give you my best.
Had such a vivid dream; one lazy afternoon
You were playing your violin, in a forest
You were playing 'Clair De Lune' beneath a country moon
Wish I could draw or paint or write like Mark Twain
Wish I was as good as a saint and as big as John Wayne
This I know I ain't as if you have n't yet guessed
The one thing I promise you I will give you my best.
Wow! This is an outstanding song. Love your guitar playing and when the strings build in. A truly dear to the heart ballad with tons of feelings. Great lyrics and vocals throughout. Very nice! 8)
well, just another typical great Ray song, that's all! we should all be so lucky to hear you so often!
your voice is soothing. At times your voice touches longings in my soul. You portray emotion well in music. That is not easy to do.
And you are a maestro with the instruments and arranging!
lyrically wonderful.
Lovely acoustic great vocal good lyric the strings can't ask for any more another beauty Ray
Great story driven song that's grows fuller as it progresses.
One could have easily been happy the way the song plays in the first half, but the arrangement really does manage to raise it to another level. The gently handled instrumentation and musical elements work a treat.
I am a big fan of Roy Harper and this is staight out of his stable. Great track and performance Ray and your voice is even similar to Roy on his acoustic stuff!
A great song Ray. Your acoustic sounds perfect in tone and playing. You have some very fine words and vocals...love the harmonies. When the strings enter, they up the heartfelt vibe of the song. I didn't realize this was a tuning (drop D?) until you strummed the very last chord...well done!
Wow, another little gem here Ray. really lovely, the lyrics and vocal delivery and gentle flow of the song marry together absolutely perfectly. the part with the strings at the Clair de Lune bit is so good. Another for my folder of SC songs.
