Title: RIP Jim Gordon
Post by: Frank53 on March 18, 2023, 11:56:08 AM
Drummer who played with Derek and the Dominoes, Traffic, Steely Dan, The Beach Boys, and dozens of others, has died at 77. His troubled life ended after nearly 40 years in prison, after murdering his mother and being diagnosed with schizophrenia.

He had such a tragic life, it's a shame he didn't get the help he needed at the time. He was a truly gifted drummer, especially his work with Steely Dan and Derek and the Dominos. He actually composed the second half of Layla! R.I.P.

Sad news and a sad ending for a life that started out so promising. I didn't know that he did so much session and touring work, nor that he was also a member of the Wrecking Crew, under Hal Blaine's wing.

Mental illness is a terrible thing. May he rest in peace.
