Got another one off the iPad...I wanted to write/record a mainly acoustic fingerstyle song and really test out my new USB condenser mic (Sure MV51)....that was the initial idea....along the way I added some more stuff...and a wee guitar solo at the end...Keith helped out with excellent bass and additional keys.......for your listening pleasure
Thoughts Like Clouds
written/performed/recorded by Dave Berry, with some assistance from Keith Berry
Dave: vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar (Keith's new Danelectro '57), GB drums and keys (melotron, organ, synth)
Keith: Denver Uke bass (new), Fender Jazz Bass, keys via Korg EPiano (harpsicord, vibraphone, harmonium)
recorded on an iPad into Garageband via new Sure USB interfaces, mastered in Bandlab
Yeah baby!
wow Dave... the whole song and instrumentation is really amazing.
but the vocals, lyrics, and the finger picked guitar really stand out for me... all the rest adds the fluffy white clouds so to say...
really cool effect on the voice as well..
I can hear where Keith gets it from... and the lead is spectacular... wow
A nice slice of proggy goodness here - it goes to many places.
Rock on, gentlemen!
Great composition, Dave. I was trying to follow the chords in my head but got lost after a few bars. Cool arrangement and mixing and a mighty-fine contribution from the younger Berry. Nice guitar work too, Dave.
Well done to you both - great work.
these lyrics really got me! some fantastic writing! This is absolutely a stellar song all the way through.
interesting that there is a Rush or Triumph like feel to the breakdown at the end... very satisfying...
This is some very cool songwriting Bluesberry (Dave)! Great acoustic guitar picking and vocals/lyrics. The outro lead solo tops it off nicely, like icing on the cake. I think your new Shure MV51 is a winner. Well done to both Berrys!
This sounds amazing. I really love the sound of the mellotron organ and the dreamy synths and the acoustic guitar in the first half, really well played. Then the tempo ups in the second half. Then it really rocks, this kicks ass.
Some fine lead guitar playing and bass. Really good music all round and love the vocals and lyrics.
Definite comparisons to other artists as others have said.
A real talented family. :)
That mic works fine and some nice picking too... the berry collective has done a cracking job on this from the vocal to the bass drum that leads not too shabby either just the ride that what is needed this grey cold morning in Yorkshire.... Now I'm off to feed the sheep with a bounce to my step
Berries and cream!! Well done, great tune. Cuth beat me to it, you are the master of prog and Keith lends to it so well, especially the bass & keyboard parts.
And the soloing, a 'ting of beauty I love it!!
Those lyrics and the honest vibe of it all. That is what makes this special. And that's just for starters. Then there's the soloing that's the icing on the cake. Those bluegrass styled melodies and the back porch feel WITH an album sound.
In short. This is a gem of a song. Something that you don't hear on the radio (or whatever it's called nowadays) anymore... If ever.
Wee guitar solo? :D Damn. It sounded so natural that i can imagine you're taking a wee while playing it. It doesn't sound forced, but to call it "wee"? It's epic in scope and just keeps on building.
Love the adventurous nature of this slice of proggy goodness.

Quirky number. Stripped back in places and then full sound. Nice chord structure. Enjoyed listening.
This is a quite epic piece and great performance! It reminds me in some ways of early Genesis, especially the ending part. Awesome guitar playing! But the singing is very good too, your voice fits the composition well.
So good from start to finish! Amazing vocal delivery, melodic and beautiful! Yes, cool proggy vibe.
Bravo gents!
Glad I caught this, there is some great production in this track, guitars, melotron and vocals.
Big respect to all involved great work!!
Great music, and some great guitar picking, well done my friend.
Wow- this is great journey. This is right up my alley - so to speak! So I shall listen to this again.

Clever Guitar picking here, sounds really cool :)
The vocal style and lyrical melody suits this song really well.
Excellent.

This was such a fun song to contribute on! I couldn't believe how well the vibraphone sound from my keyboard works for this song. The chord progressions here are wicked and it truly has an epic feel here (we're working on one that will be out soon which has even more of that feel!).
