Title: After The Storm (LITLR) - AndyR Original
Post by: AndyR on February 17, 2022, 01:41:04 PM
Another Songwriting Demo for FAWM 2022

Song number 11.

Feels like I'm on the last lap now. Only 3 more needed.

This one came from a suggestion from Mrs R this morning. I didn't quite fancy it, but gave it a go.

After The Storm
Words & Music AndyR
--------------------------------
After the storm we raised
All of our trees lie flat
Your flowers all look dazed
After the storm we had
But the garden shed
That has survived so well
It looks none the worse
Still too early to tell

After the storm we've had
All our hurts and sores
Our world outside looks so sad
After the storm we have caused
Still that garden shed
It has survived us so well
It looks none the worse
But it's too early to tell
Still too early to tell

No matter how we played it
No matter what the score
We have to own our outcomes
Share them like before
Pick up the leaves and branches
Broken pots and stems
Clear the way to start again

After the storm has passed
And we begin to heal
Can we forgive at last
And make forgiveness real
And that garden shed
That has survived so well
Can it still shelter us
If we want
It will
If we want it to
It will

This is a really good song...and it could be used in a movie scene after the devastating results of storms...
there has been so many storms some massive that damaged many miles wide...others are local but just as devastating to those who were victims...like in Tennessee mountains a few months back....rain, rain, rain, rain, rain and then the flooding claimed lives...swept folks from their beds etc.
this fits all that...so it is a good one and yet... the voice makes it sound like it will be alright ...

Another winner.  Any song starring a garden shed is fine by me!

Since I reside in the land of hurricanes, I can definitely relate. We had a blow last month, where I spent an hour picking up and then burning branches from the lawn. This could have been the backdrop. My thoughts for people in the UK right now.

I downloaded this one. It has a vibe.

Congrats on the 3,000 posts.

;D I SO wanted to call it "The Garden Shed", but that pushed it too far towards only being understood as a song about a weather storm.

All through the writing, I liked the way the storm imagery would touch everyone, but I'm really singing about something else altogether.

And I loved that Garden Shed idea. I had no idea if "garden shed" would touch people the same way as me.

I bought a new shed last year.  I have two sheds. I am Paul "2 sheds" Chapman.

A fine song Andy! Many people will take different many feelings and meanings away from this one. The Garden Shed is a great metaphor for whatever one wants it to be. We all have garden sheds real or imagined. I like it!

What an excellent songwriting and performance! I wish I could make/record that guitar tone, it's perfect!

Enjoyable listening!
