I just found out about https://punchline.ai
It's a tool that uses AI (I don't know how) to spit out ideas related to the song idea, or lyrics idea you have.
I put in a partial lyric from "Dechromium Cob," clicked "Generate" a few times, and these are some of the results:
I may use it to rattle my process when I'm stuck.
If you aren't going to write this into a song I would certainly like the opportunity! cracks me up... any song with rectum would automatically score hit points with me ... (it's an old term that my grandmother used to use...she cracked me up)
I've goofed around with OpenAI (https://openai.com/) to see if it can generate lyrics – and it seems to be really good a generating cliché lyrics.
This was my request:
Create lyrics in the style of Elvis Costello using the words "suppose" "Sharpie" and "ammonia" and avoid themes of love and heartache. This was the result:
which ever site Ted, I am planning to use some AI lyrics at some point... like we had cut up fest I suppose AI fest would be good. some day people won't be needed. AI will sit around and write songs automatically, music and all. Can you imagine? Then they can have competitions and critique each other etc. All the people will be gone but there will be a few left, hidden away in various places around the globe, managing to escape the all watching eyes of the AI.
They will be still posting on Song Crafters. lol
We should do a contest using something like this.
https://www.freshbots.org/ just generated this corny country trash song:
Title: "Broken Heart Road"
Verse 1:
Sittin' here at the edge of town
Watchin' the sun go down
Reflecting on our love that's gone
Leavin' me here all alone
Chorus:
I'm on a broken heart road
Tryin' to find my way back home
Lost in the pain that I can't erase
Stuck in this endless chase
I'm on a broken heart road
Verse 2:
The memories of you still linger
Your voice in my ear, your touch on my finger
I didn't see it coming, didn't know what to do
Now I'm just a ghost of me without you
Chorus:
I'm on a broken heart road
Tryin' to find my way back home
Lost in the pain that I can't erase
Stuck in this endless chase
I'm on a broken heart road
Bridge:
I thought our love was forever
But you found someone else who was clever
Left me here to pick up the pieces
On this road with no happiness releases
Chorus:
I'm on a broken heart road
Tryin' to find my way back home
Lost in the pain that I can't erase
Stuck in this endless chase
I'm on a broken heart road
Outro:
The tears keep flowing down my face
As I keep movin' on this broken heart road.
Here's lyrics from open ai.
"Write me lyrics for a country song about losing confidence in organized religion"
->
(Verse 1)
I used to walk these pews with pride,
A believer with my heart open wide,
But as time went on, I started to see,
The cracks in the faith that once held me.
(Pre-Chorus)
Questions rose like the morning sun,
Doubts crept in, and I came undone,
I'm searchin' for truth in a world so vast,
In this journey, I pray it'll last.
(Chorus)
Lost faith in the halls of the steeple,
I'm wanderin', my soul feels feeble,
The dogma's weight, I couldn't bear,
But I still believe in a higher care.
(Verse 2)
They said they had the answers clear,
But it's not that simple, I fear,
The preacher's words, they used to inspire,
Now they feel like flames, burnin' like fire.
(Pre-Chorus)
Questions rose like the morning sun,
Doubts crept in, and I came undone,
I'm searchin' for truth in a world so vast,
In this journey, I pray it'll last.
(Chorus)
Lost faith in the halls of the steeple,
I'm wanderin', my soul feels feeble,
The dogma's weight, I couldn't bear,
But I still believe in a higher care.
(Bridge)
Through the darkest nights, I found my way,
Questioning, but still, I kneel to pray,
Seeking solace in a world unsure,
Hoping my doubts will find a cure.
(Verse 3)
The road is rough, the path is unclear,
But in my heart, there's a longing to be near,
To something greater than I can comprehend,
In my doubts, I hope my soul will mend.
(Pre-Chorus)
Questions rose like the morning sun,
Doubts crept in, and I came undone,
I'm searchin' for truth in a world so vast,
In this journey, I pray it'll last.
(Chorus)
Lost faith in the halls of the steeple,
I'm wanderin', my soul feels feeble,
The dogma's weight, I couldn't bear,
But I still believe in a higher care.
(Outro)
Though I've lost confidence in the way it's told,
My belief in love and hope won't fold,
I'll keep seeking, I'll keep the faith,
In this country song, my truth I'll embrace.
Pretty on the nose. Does saying "this country song" make it a country song? Well.
I think if we lean in on these crusty lyrics, and write some equally crusty music ourselves it would be a fun FESTIVAL idea here on SC.
My observation is that when you ask an AI to do something in a particular style, it dishes up the most obvious cliches. But you might find some inspiration to work with hidden in the AI cliche vomit.
The thought of AI being used in music makes my skin crawl, i still remember when lyrics mattered and were always mentioned , very rare now, but now who will as everyone will think everything is fake good for a laugh maybe a i for kicks, but its one step closer to the matrix. and our eventual demise by the terminators. :)
AI has no place in my world, it scares the shit out of me and changes the world into a darker place.
Like self scanning machines in shops it fills me with dread.
THe sample song above is absolutely terrible. :-)

Yes indeed, where to start. Ai... pretty sure I won't be participating in anything Ai related and that will include fests here on SC if they ever get voted in. I think Ai is crossing a line now that shouldn't be crossed. The lines are too blurred... it's a slippery slope that I personally believe a strong stand should be made against in artistic communities
I, for one, take advantage of AI all nearly every day. But letting AI have the final say is (as of today) usually garbage. I have used the internet creatively when songwriting for a long time. Even before AI tools were so easily accessible, I would use web searches rattle my brain a little.
For example: If I was writing a song about a dog eating a pineapple, and was stuck for a third verse, I would search for "dog pineapple eat" and then throw in some third unrelated search term such as "letter opener." Just scanning the search results, and seeing the unexpected contexts in which all of these words appear together, would sometimes inspire an idea that had been just out of reach.
I have to admit that I know very little of this AI stuff, and also admit that I'm not particularly interested in it either. But it will probably become the norm as these things do. I'm reminded of the 'Buggles' song which claimed: 'They wrote your ? with new technology', and of course the fact is (and I'm not too sure how far advanced 'Vox' software is), but quite literally now, you can be a complete non-musician, yet with a computer and software create a credible 'Dance track' etc. I'm hoping to see out my days with human thought and interaction still taking place. 8)
