Title: RIP Fredrick 'Toots' Hibbert
Post by: Flash Harry on September 12, 2020, 06:24:54 AM
Toots, of the Maytalls fame, died last night.

I saw him with the Maytalls in Leeds a couple of years ago, he walked off stage because the sound was so dreadful and only came back when the crew had sorted it out. Turned into a great gig.
RIP  Fredrick Nathaniel Hibbert.

That's sad news. I saw Toots and the Maytals in 1975 when they opened for The Who, which was an odd combination of music styles for a concert. I didn't know who they were at the time but I remember they were quite good. They were the first and only reggae band I ever saw live.

RIP Toots. Got introduced to a lot of reggae during the punk era and Toots and the Maytalls was a band I enjoyed a lot.

RIP, Toots Hibbert. I was introduced to Toots and the Maytals via the Clash when they covered this song around 1980 or so:
