I can't honestly say I was a big fan, but I did love his first hit single from 1967 with The First Edition, "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)". Great song.

He's a proper legend. I love so many of his songs. And his Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurants (don't even know if they still exist). When it gets hot I say that it's 'Kenny Rogers Roasters out there', and nobody in Britain knows what the hell I'm talking about.

This makes me quite sad. Probably the 1st musician I ever connected with as a kid. As a very young adult I had a velvet Kenny hanging in at least my 1st 3 apartments. I remember when my (soon to be wife) refused to let me hang it in our 1st home together...sadly velvet Kenny has since been lost and is only a memory.
